Katie Berglof

Katie holds her bachelor degree in music performance on French horn from the University of Northern Iowa and pursued graduate credits in music education at CU-Boulder. 

She currently teaches in Douglas County School District's DC Downbeat Band Program, and teaches private music lessons full-time through American Music School (Lakewood, CO), Music & Arts (Westminister, CO), and Taylor Robinson Music (Denver Metro Area) .

As an educator/private music instructor , Katie is a multi-instrumentalist who teaches guitar, piano, violin, songwriting - involves guitar and lyric writing/singing, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium or baritone , tuba, oboe, flute, clarinet, saxophone, and bassoon. 

She has experience teaching middle and high school band, general music education pre-K through 5th, and has Montessori training. Additional certification: Colorado Department of Education substitute authorization, First Aid and CPR certified.     

As a horn player she has been trained by reputable professionals and held primarily principal horn positions in orchestras and ensembles in the Midwest throughout her career. Additionally, she has won competitions and scholarships throughout her studies.  

Katie has a passion for writing and is an advocate for musician's health and injury prevention. She holds memberships with the Performing Arts Medical Association, International Horn Society, and the National Association for Music Educators.  In her pastime she does wood furnishing restoration, gold leaf guilding, and pyrography (wood burning art).
