Gregg Ziemba began playing drums at age 5 with the help of his guitar playing father. His first private instructor was Kofi Baker, son of Ginger Baker who is best known for playing drums with the bands Cream and Blind Faith. Throughout his schooling Gregg played drums in concert band, jazz band, marching band, and in the pit for school theater productions. During this time he also studied privately at the Colorado Drum Institute under instructor Bill Larson. At age 14 he began teaching private lessons independently and continued all through high school.
Gregg attended the University of Colorado at Denver, studying music and earning a Bachelor of Science in Music. During his education at CU, Gregg studied percussion under Thomas Van Schoick. He played drums in CU’s Signature Jazz Guitar ensemble, as well as Metro’s Jazz ensemble. At this time he also studied privately with drummer extraordinaire Paul Romaine.
In 2004 Gregg began teaching drums at American Music School. He also performs with many local bands of many different genres including Tangible Stereo, Input, and various jazz combos. Gregg has also toured with the national act Authority Zero as a sub on drums.
