Bianca Thomas (she/her) is a Colorado native. She is pursuing two Bachelor’s Degrees, in Music Education and Music in Vocal Performance, at Metropolitan State University of Denver. In 2019, Bianca attended the Orfeo Music Festival in Vipiteno, Italy, where she performed scenes as Idamante from Idomeneo as well as other solo arias and oratorios. Other performance credits include Augusta Tabor in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Sarah in Ragtime, and many ensemble roles in musicals and operas. Also an active participant in MSU Denver's opera and operetta scenes program, she has performed scenes as Carmen (Carmen), Lilli Vanessi (Kiss Me, Kate), and Giovanna (Anna Bolena). Most recently, she received recognition and the McCollum Endowed Scholarship for her dedication to and success in Music Education.
Prior to her classical training, Bianca's musical passions were primarily in musical theater. In the past few years, along with her acting pursuits, she has started directing musicals. She directed a high school production of High School Musical in March of 2020. Being able to help young students find their love for music was one of the most fulfilling pursuits in Bianca’s professional career so far, and she’s looking forward to the next opportunity that she’ll get to direct.
For the past four years, Bianca has taught private music theory lessons to college and high school students. As an educator, Bianca encourages her students to start with healthy and productive technique in order to develop healthy and easy singing as early as possible and to promote longevity in their musical journey. As a performer, she grew up singing a wide variety of genres and strives to provide all of her students the ability to do the same, while continuing to stay healthy. When Bianca isn’t teaching or performing, you can find her practicing her piano skills, studying, or going on long walks with her yorkie, Mercutio.
